Milford Ball Hockey League

The MBHL began in the fall of 2000 and was created by hockey players, for hockey players.  It began with a small tournament and exploded into the competitive league it is now.  The MBHL spawned from a high school street hockey league (18 and under) that began in 1988 and was governed by Quakertown Borough and the KIDS (Kids Involved in Doing Something) summer youth program.  The league quickly became popular and was played each and every summer through the summer of 2000.

Many members of MBHL played in this youth hockey program and wished to continue playing after high school.  The MBHL hosted a tournament the following fall and took off from there.  The MBHL still uses the official trophy, originally called the Gunn Cup, and is now known as the MBHL Cup (see notes under the MBHL Cup link).

The MBHL now thrives with 2 leagues per year as well as a team summer tournament and a 'players' tournament in the spring.  This players tournament involves individual players being placed on separate teams according to a 'rank' for an interesting twist to this very competitive tournament.  Championship teams in each of the tournaments receive a cash prize.  Each regular season, players are awarded all-star t-shirts, various plaques for individual regular season and playoff awards, as well as trophies for each player on the championship team.  And of course we can not forget getting your name on the MBHL Cup!

The MBHL is a street hockey league, played in sneakers in a regulation sized roller hockey rink.  The rink is located at Unami Creek Park in Milford Township, PA.  Each game consists of three 15 minutes periods with a stop clock situation in the third period.  All games are 5 on 5 with a goaltender for each team.  Minor penalties are 2 minutes in length.
